Digestive System

Function of the digestive system :

Digeand - The digestive and absorption of organic nutrients, salts, and water.

-Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process of breaking it down into a form your body can absorb and use.

 - The esophagus then receives food from your mouth when you swallow.

- The stomach holds food while it mix it with enzymes to continue to break the food down.

Major organs and their functions :  The stomach : The cells inside the gland of the stomach makes gastric juice that chemically breaks down food into smaller pieces.

The mouth: In salvia, a digestive enzyme called amylase , breaks down larger carbohydrates into smaller polysaccharides

The throat : The tongue then pushes the food to the back of the throat through an area called the esophagus where muscle contractions push the food into the stomach.

The small intestine is apart of the stomach , (one main organ of the digestive system).  It has three different basic structures or parts. The duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. During the duodenum function , the gall bladder and the liver add water and digestive enzymes to the food. During jejunum and ileum , these parts absorb water ,amino acids, monosaccharaides, and fatty acids.

The digestive system is made up of four major tissues types nervous, connective, muscle and, epithelial. The epithelial tissue goes around the entire lining of the stomach extract. The nervous tissue transport electrical stimulus to the brain. The connective tissue transport nutrients throughout the body. Smooth muscle tissue contracts to move food through the stomach and throat.

Animal Digestive System - The digestive system enables animals to break down food that they eat and obtain energy for other body processes.
